This is just an announcement to inform you that we recently extended the allowable ad duration on our five main classified sites (WebClassifieds.US, PetClassifieds.US, CycleClassifieds.US, MotoClassifieds.US and BoatClassifieds.US).
Before today, members were able to choose between 1 month, 2 months and 3 months when placing an ad. Today, we changed the durations to 30 days, 60 days, 90 days and 180 days. We will be keeping an eye on the effects of this decision, but feel it will make life easier for those who place hundreds or thousands of ads repeatedly.

Recently, we squashed two bugs in our classified websites.
In the past few weeks, we received a few complaints that people’s ads have been showing as the wrong ads in search engines, such as Google, Yahoo! and Live Search. When users would search for their ads in these search engines, their ad would appear, but when clicked on, they would be brought to someone else’s “printer friendly” ad.
We tracked down what has been causing these strange results and fixed the issue. Your “printer friendly” ad pages should now be showing properly. Give it a few weeks to filter through the search engines before submitting a ticket if you continue to experience this.
The next bug that we fixed had to do with case sensitivity when searching or logging in on the PetClassifieds.US and WebClassifieds.US. This bug had to do with some new servers we moved the websites to. There needed to be some fine tuning that was completed a few days ago. Things should be better now.

I wanted to let you know that we recently upgraded our servers to the latest version of PHP. This should improve the functionality of our software.
This change will allow us to focus more on new features and less on making those new features compatible with 6 year old versions of PHP. It should also improve software stability. Right now, about 85% of bugs found are due to compatibility problems because of older versions of PHP or bugs in older versions of PHP that we have to create a “work around” for.
I hope this makes your continued use of our websites more fruitful for your business.

We wanted you to know that we recently increased the size of images view in your ad from 500 pixels to 700 pixels. What this means is this - If you placed an ad with a photo, people will now be able to view your ad page, click on the small thumbnail photo and then view a page with larger photos on it.
There is nothing do you on your part, as this is an automatic system feature. It is merely an enhancement we wanted to share with you.

We recently changed a setting on our website that will allow twelve photos to be uploaded per ad, instead of six. We noticed that many members were maxing out the allowable photos, giving us an indication that some members would like to upload more than previously allowed.
We’ll see how this works out for a few weeks. If everything goes smoothly, we will keep this setting.

We are trying out a new view for the photos users place in their classified ads.
Currently, when someone clicks on one of your uploaded photos, they are presented with a “popup” window with your photo in it. This is a great option, but it doesn’t show any ad information. With the new view that we are trying out, your photo will show, along with your ad description. It will also be displayed on its own full sized page.
We will give this a shot for a few weeks. If we like it and don’t hear any complaints about it, we will keep this as the new photo viewing standard.
This post is targeted to the PetClassifieds.US, WebClassifieds.US, CycleClassifieds.US, MotoClassifieds.US and BoatClassifieds.US websites.

Currently, we are having an issue with Paypal payments.
When you place an with features or extras that requires a payment, you are guided through Paypal.com for payment processing. Normally, you would make your payment at Paypal.com and be sent back to our website where the ad would be placed. The way our website knows that payment has been made is from a signal sent from Paypal.
Currently, there is a small bug in our system that is not receiving the “Paid” signal. Your ad still gets placed, but waits for manual approval. Usually, we approve all ads within a few hours of them being placed.
We have this issue cleared up for BoatClassifieds.US, MotoClassifieds.US and CycleClassifieds.US. PetClassifieds.US and WebClassifieds.US are still affected by this bug. We hope to have it cleared up in a few days.
Thank you for your patience with this issue.
